To Write...

I write to give myself to you. The “Happy Birthday” card exclaims, “I’m excited to celebrate this milestone with you.” The “Congrats Grad” letter affirms, “I’m proud of who you are,” while the “Sympathy” note expresses, “I grieve with you in this time of loss.” You write back so that I can carry a piece of you with me. Your “Best Wishes” note avows, “You will not be forgotten.” Your “Thinking of You” letter confirms, “I treasure our friendship,” and your “I Love You” card proclaims, “You’re the only one for me.” I write to know and be known.

Oppression

In follow up to my last entry, Band-Aids, I'd like to share with you a piece I wrote a few months ago. Based upon a conversation between two news reporters in the movie, Hotel Rwanda, I created my own interpretation of the event.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
- Edmund Burke
